Swimming through pain is counterproductive --

You can use swimming to help your recovery,
not hinder it

We can make the most of your recovery if you come prepared to work...we can work hard to come up with a plan for successful return, but we don't have a magic wand! Therapy recommendations frequently involve reduced training and lots of remedial exercise, but you'll need to "buy into" the plan to make it work.
Some things to make sure you have:

  • Physical therapy evaluation & treatment requires a prescription from your physician. When you call to schedule, we'll always verify that you have a prescription. If you'll be coming from outside the Canton area, it would be best for you to fax a copy of the prescription ahead of time to be sure everything's OK (bring the original when you come for your appointment). By law, we cannot evaluate or treat without this important piece of paper!!
  • Bring a swim suit. we may need to have you jump in our pool (rarely) as part of the assessment. It's also much easier to evaluate female swimmers in a suit rather than yucky hospital-type gowns!
  • Make sure to download & complete a Swimmer's Injury History Form, complete it and bring it with you (you can also fax it ahead of time). You can download the Adobe Acrobat version from this page, or call us to have one faxed to you.
Please plan to arrive 15-20 minutes before your appointment tome to allow for registration & changing.
